I started to enjoy the winter holidays so much more when researching the pagan origins of every single christmas tradition. Like the tradition of the Lord of Misrule - dating back to pre-christian Roman times, where during the celebration of Saturnalia the world was turned topsy turvy. During this time societal roles were reversed - peasants and slaves were now treated to feasting as royalty - and one soul was crowned the King for a Day - the Lord of Misrule - the overseer of all mischief, merriment, and mayhem.
This tradition of the Lord of Misrule can be seen in modern times as the “Office Holiday Party” where staff and team members are treated to a seat at the big table with some modicum of feasting and revelry.
Cards are 3.5” x5” folded, and comes with an envelope. Pack of three per set.
